About Us

Hi I'm Marlon, based in North West England.
In my spare moments, I like to spend time with my family or go hiking.

Many people have asked me why I founded this group. The short answer is that I discovered my love for adventure and making new acquaintances after struggling with my mental health and seeking an escape.

I began hiking and climbing mountains, but I wasn't completely confident in my abilities and I didn't like going on these long drives by myself, so I conceived the idea to form this community to help others in a similar situation.

Hi, I'm Jayne, 44, mum to two teenagers, from Notts.

 

I love getting out hiking, scrambling, camping, and paddle boarding. Traveling around the countryside or visiting a new city.

I also love a good night with live music and a gin or two. 

I'm Clare and I've had a love for hiking since my teenage years. Im from Teesside so my first hike was up a Teeside favourite -  Roseberry Topping. I'm a history buff and lover of waterfalls so I tend to vary my hiking routes to include ruins, caves or waterfalls.

I'm a proud HBUK member, but you will usually find me behind the scenes tweaking the website or on socials. 

Hey!! I’m Paul. I am a qualified personal trainer and teach my own bootcamp class in County Durham. I love nothing better than helping my clients achieve their goals.

 

My spare time I can be found leading amazing groups of members on hikes and scrambles from Hiking Buddies UK up a mountain or ten and helping people gain the confidence to step out of their comfort zone brings me a lot of happiness. Watching them form connections and make good friends is a massive plus and I myself have made lots of friends since joining the group.

 

I love traveling and have travelled and hiked all over the world and I cannot wait to see more of it with HB Global. I absolutely love being a part of the HB family.

Hey everyone! I’m Dan and a proud member of the Hiking Buddies UK team. 

 

I found hiking through lockdown, just like many of you. I was struggling with the stresses of life. I needed something to centre myself and give me the recharge and escapism we all sometimes crave. I started with small walks, which made me appreciate the nature I have previously ignored.

The support I’ve had from everyone on Hiking Buddies UK has been out of this world. This group is what you make of it and with a positive attitude comes positive results. I love every second I’m on those mountains! 

 

I love giving people the opportunity and strength to try new things like scrambling and multiple summit hiking. People are all at different levels, but their love for the great outdoors is normally the same! That’s what brings us all together. 

Hi everyone, I'm Sinead, originally from Cork, Ireland.

My love for hiking and the outdoors began when I moved to New Zealand 15 years ago. I love to travel and explore new places, as well as meeting new people.

​

I'm based near the Peaks and usually out and about on a Hiking Buddies UK event or exploring nearby with my Frenchie.

If I'm not in the UK, I am more than likely on another global expedition with the team!

I am delighted to be a part of the Hiking Buddies Global team, helping to organize your next big trip.

Hi, I'm PeakSights Aka Rich I'm based in the East Midlands and am your local Peak District guru. 

 

I only found Hiking as such over the past 2 years thanks to Hiking Buddies UK, but loved it right from the get-go! I started my first event as a nervous wreck, not knowing anybody or what I was getting into but loved every second. I have since walked most of the Peak District either alone or on events.

 

I have often led events on here or with my little mini me who is my world! I love taking people out and showing them hidden little gems that I find and helping everybody however I can! Hope to see you all out there soon.
