About the event
The  walking holiday consists of a 6-night stay at the cosy 4 star Distant  Hills Guest House in Spean Bridge with 4 days of guided walking in the  stunning surrounding Highlands. As well as a full, hearty breakfast  every morning, you will also be treated to a delicious three course  evening meal on five of the nights. Packed lunches, afternoon tea and  home baked cakes will also be included on each of the walking days.  You’ll also be able to soak in the Distant Hills hot tub and relax any  aching muscles after a great day’s hiking! A free day in the middle of  the holiday will give you an opportunity to rest your legs and take in  the local sights, attractions and restaurants at your leisure.
Hard  Level – Our harder walking itinerary is aimed at people who have  experience of walking in the hills and mountains and are used to walking  for a minimum of 8-10 hour days and are able to climb approximately  1000m on subsequent days.
You  must be able to comfortably walk across a variety of terrain including  sections of bog, often rough rock and steeper, pathless terrain. Some of  the routes may include airy ridges with some exposure. Each of the  routes will take you to a different area in the Lochaber region and  could, but not always, include a number of Munro peaks.
The  Walks – Your qualified, local guide will carefully select walks  tailored to the group and weather conditions and will aim to take you to  a different area each day providing a variety of terrain and  stimulation. The Lochaber region is rich in natural beauty, history and  wildlife and our moderate level walks range from hikes into historical  glens with gurgling streams and gushing waterfalls, to trips along  breezy coastal footpaths with views of secluded sandy beaches, ruined  castles and hills stretching far into the distance, or we might squelch  through the bog and bounce atop the springy heather up onto one of the  many mountain peaks with breathtaking views in all directions. Your  qualified guide will be with you every step of the way to eagerly impart  their expert local knowledge, answer your questions and ensure you have  the very best experience.  A car sharing scheme is required to enable  all participants to and from trailheads.
Finer Details -
We  would ask all participants to arrive at Distant Hills Guest House in  Spean Bridge (8 miles north of Fort William) late afternoon on Sunday  16th April for welcome and evening meal cooked by your hosts Dani &  Cameron.
Dinner  will be at a local restaurant on each of the walking day evenings at  7pm for a 3-course evening meal, included in the price.
The  week starts with a very informal ‘Welcome’ chat on the Sunday evening  around 6pm. The guide is usually present that first evening too to  introduce him/herself and answer people’s questions as well as to brief  the first walk for the following day.
The  guided walks take place on the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday  leaving the Wednesday as a free day for people to have space from each  other and do their own thing. Breakfast is the only meal included on the  free day.
The  group will aim to have breakfast 7.15-8.30am with a meet time of 9am in  the Distant Hills car park ready to car share and drive to the  trailhead.
On  the moderate level programme, the group is usually back at Distant  Hills around 4pm allowing sufficient time for tea and cake, a soak in  our hot tub with a relaxing tipple from the licensed bar which has an  honesty box for payment.
Six  weeks prior to the event, you will receive an email with a form to fill  out which asks for personal information including next of kin, any  medical issues, special dietary requirements as well as food dislikes,  and a disclaimer statement. The email also tells clients about arrival  info, kit list.
Participants will leave the guest house after breakfast on Saturday 22nd April, usually by 10am at the latest.
There is also a purpose-built drying room – all essentials after a day’s walking.
As  the event is so close we will be taking halt the total after February  payday and the other half after March payday, or by the last day of Feb  and March.
